Here’s the press release we’re using for Craft Bomb, Perth – If anyone can help us publicise it, would be very grateful 🙂
If you go down to Moncreiffe Hill woods today…. you’ll find Craft Bomb ….
Rustic Driftwood Sundial Creation by Garry Brown
A local event organised on the Moncreiffe Hill sculpture trail as part of Voluntary Arts Week. Voluntary Arts Week takes place from 11th to 19th May and is a week long celebration of amateur arts and crafts. It aims to turn public places across the UK and Republic of Ireland into a riot of colour and creativity to celebrate the first day of Voluntary Arts Week and events are usually kept under wraps until the last minute for maximum impact.
This year’s event in Perth is taking place on Moncreiffe Hill, will be on for the full week and features fibre, textile and driftwood work by four local arts and crafts people.
Shona Adam commented ‘We were delighted that The Woodland Trust were keen to support our involvement in VA week and our ideas for Moncreiffe Hill. We’re doing it in a small way this year but hopefully we’ll be able to get more people interested in a bigger event for next year’
Felted Mushrooms by Shona Adam
So if you visit Moncreiffe Hill over the next week keep your eyes peeled for Shona Adam’s little felted wool mushrooms (some of which you can take away), a wonderful driftwood sundial by Garry Brown, a textile sculpture by Sheila Buchanan and a surprise piece by Louise Ormerod. Also look out for little ‘fibre balls’ which we hope will encourage the local bird life to get involved in some colourful nest building and ‘craft bomb’ constructions of their own.
Fibre Balls to give the birds nesting materials to create their own craft bomb creations
Rory Syme from the Woodland Trust Scotland said: “It’s great that local artists are adding an extra splash of colour to Moncreiffe Hill for Volunteer Arts Week. I’m sure that these vibrant artworks will be a big hit with visitors.”
The craft bomb works will be located around the sculpture trail and treasure hunt accessed from the Moncreiffe Hill Tay car park and will be available to view from 11th to 19th May. If you have a Smartphone, you’ll be able to scan the poster at the car-park for helpful hints on where to find the craft bomb works – otherwise, you’ll find them near the existing artworks on the sculpture trail.
